Recently diagnoses with thyroid nodule

I have been having trouble with my thyroid being enlarged for a couple years now.  Had all the different bloodwork done by multiple doctors and everything always came back in normal range.  My last annual exam my thyroid was very enlarged and Dr finally decided to look further and do nuclear uptake and scan.  I have hoarse voice and tickly throat and hard to swallow.  Scan showed "functioning nodule" is all they told me and referred me to endo who can't see me until October 26!  I have no information  on what this is, is it worrysome, something to act on quickly or not?  I have to wait 2 more months after it took almost 3 weeks to get any info at all from my scan.  I normally post on the crohn's site but with this new development I am worried that the stress of not knowing anything will cause my cd to flare!  Anybody with some answers?

This is actually something that sometimes happens with crohnies, usually ones with a fairly active disease. It should be ok for several months but you will probably feel more tired. However common sense is that if you feel a change (especially a significant change) please do see a doc.

I had a 3X2.5 nodule that was removed because of a variety of symptoms and thyroid cancer in my family.
My ENT said this is what we are doing and so I agreed.

For 7 years I had a constant tickly cough, hoarseness, choking on food at almost every meal, choking on water! high fevers, chills, shaking and muscle aches that NO ONE could diagnose.

But, after surgery I felt fine for two months. I lost 20 lbs. Suddenly I started gaining it back, craving sweets, tired and listless, puffy face, and my feet hurt so bad I could hardly stand up. I started having chills at night like I had the flu about once a week.

My Endo said started me on 75 synthroid. He said I will feel better and lose weight but it may take months before I feel like myself again. My thyroid function came back LOW/NORMAL.

I would vote for taking the nodule out. By the 5th day of meds, I already felt so much better.
With the nodule IN I felt lousy. Now it is gone and I feel better on the meds. I have to go back every 3 months for the next 9 months tho to talk about how I feel and do the lab work.
