No special vitamins are needed because of your hypothyroidism. With Crohn's, be sure you've had vitamin D3 levels checked - a lot of people are deficient in this vitamin. If you have bleeding, you may also need an iron supplement. Other than that, as far as I know a daily multivitamin should be all you need.

Come over to the GERD site and we can help you with the acid reflux questions.
If you take PPIs you need extra vitamins because they hinder absorbtion of important vitamins and minerals.

For my thyroid I make sure I get Calcium/magnesium/zinc (zinc is important for Thyroid), they say selenium up to 200mgs per day but I never noticed anything with or without it. I take higher doses of Vitamin D3 for any SAD issues. B12 and iron to make sure I don't run anemic (b12 is great for low energy, which hypothyroidism causes). I wouldn't take iron unless you get your ferritin levels checked and low iron tends to go with hypothyroidism too and can mimick low thyroid symptoms. I'll take a b-stress vitamin for my adrenals (thyroid and adrenals go hand and hand), salmon oil up to 3000mgs per day (helps w/depression from thyroid and keeps heart healthy), evening primrose oil for PMS symptoms. Magnesium is important for heart palpitations and anxiety from thyroid. A good multi can be helpful. My NP put me on boron 3mgs per day for pms/hormonal stuff and I find it helps better than Chinese Herbs. I also take 1000mgs of Vitamin C a day, and Kelp on and off for iodine. Elderberry for when I feel like I'm getting sick.

Be careful about
taking magnesium within 4 hours of your synthiod. It can hinder the absortion of it.

My problem is whenever I talk to my doctor about
what I should be taking vitamin wises. He just looks at me like he doesn't know. Because so much stuff I can't eat or drink from crohn's disease and acid relux disease and ulcers. Cuz I can't have any juices or spices or acid or to greasy or fatty stuff.. I still haven't figure out my diet yet when comes to my crohn's and also my ulcers always in my mouth so hard for me eat a lot of stuff or anything when have them. Always been anemia . Last time did say zinc kind of low. But I always ask them what I should take but its like they don't know because all stuff not getting from food. But also willing try anything cuz so tired and weak and always fatigue. Also my teeth been delaying and breaking off been working on getting them fix. Even though dentist thinks its from acid or either some kind of medicine am on.

Miranda, I also have IBD, although I have ulcerative colitis rather than Crohn's. May I suggest you ask your doctor to refer you to a good nutritionist who's familiar with Crohn's? She should be able to help you figure out a bland, low-residue diet that will be appetizing and still not bother your ulcers, and also advise you as to vitamin needs.
As it stands today, our doctors are very well trained to treat disease, but less well trained to sustain health. They receive very little training on diet and nutrition, so really aren't usually prepared to help us with this.
As to your teeth, acid reflux disease can indeed cause tooth decay and weakness, but steroids can contribute to this also. Have you been on Prednisone or Entocort for extended periods? If so, this could be contributing to your dental woes.
I hope you find help soon so you can feel better and get on with your life.

Hi everyone.
I am new here. I am so confused. I have been ill for 2 years with a colonoscopy biopsy that shows inflammation and ulceration suggestive of Crohns, yet I don't really have Crohns symptoms. It does look like I have mild hypothyroidism (not Hashimotos). I also have severe pelvic pressure, have gained lots of weight, have developed pre-diabetes in last 2 years with no family history, have mild anemia, and mildly high cortisol on and off. . Can anyone relate to any of this? Do those of you with IBD and hypothyroid have diarhea? I don't, not yet. Has anyone had pelvic pressure-it's especially bad when I sit down. Also, I have had a burning sensation on my face at times with blotchiness on neck and arm at times.
My naturopath wants to start me on Armour, and my GI says maybe I should try Entocort for the ileal inflammation. Does anyone take them both? What about
LDN? Anyone tried that? All this has made me very anxious and depressed as well which I never was before. Any feedback would really be appreciated. Thank you.

Well it is very paining and critical problem. Drugs, actually do not cure the disease. It just control the disease. So i would suggest to drink alovera juice . Alovera juice greatly helps.
