People who have thyroiditis have only a 5% increased risk of cancer
of the thyroid than does everyone else. Therefore, chances are that you do not have cancer, but wait until the biopsy and bloodwork come back before you get really concerned.
Your specialist will advise you about
what he recommends for your treatment and the different methods of treatment. You very likely will just be put on a thyroid supplement, but if the pain bothers you he might suggest that the thyroid gland be removed. You will have a
choice of routes to follow.
Take care and don't worry.
