Hi all, I posted recently about having been dx'ed with hypo for about 10 years, and now I come to find out that I have Hashi's. I saw a eyeing who dx'ed the Hashi's, and I just saw an Endo on Friday. When we were just sitting talking, she looked at me and said, "I can see from here that your neck is swollen, when I examine you I'm sure you have a goiter." So she felt my neck and said that I do have a goiter and possible nodules. She said that small nodules are okay, big nodules can be worrisome and may need to be biopsied.
She said that I have probably had Hashi's all my life, I was just never tested for it, only my TSH was tested. A couple months apo, I was having trouble swallowing pills in the morning, so for about a month I wasn't taking my thyroid rx every day. She said that may have caused my lab numbers to be so high.
Anyway, I got some blood drawn and and an ultrasound of my neck yesterday. The doc said she would call later in the week when all the results were in. I have been reading about Hashi's, and goiters, and nodules, and I am freaking out. I was dx'ed a few years ago with fiber and them with RA, and guess I didn't take either ofthem that seriously because I am Sero-negative RA and my former rheumy was very blasé about how " mild" my RA was.
But I'm reading that Hashi's is a "disease" , not just a syndrome, and it is really hitting me that all this is some serious stuff! And it is freaking me out that I have a goiter and possible nodules. I'm only 41 years old and have 3 young kids. Am I just going to get sicker and sicker?
Anyway, if anyone has had experience with goiters or nodules, could you give me some advice and tell me about your experience? I'm trying not to worry or be nervous but I am a worrywart anyway. sorry this post is so long, thanks for reading!
