Hi there -

Just posted on the migraine forum, but thought I'd post here as well --

Been taking Synthroid for a month at the time of my supposed migraine attack. For about 6 or 7 days, I suffered from visual migraine auras, followed by numbness and tingling in my limbs. The migraine attack was almost 3 weeks ago and I'm still battling numbness, which is making me wonder if synthroid may have had something to do with this. I stopped taking the synthroid about a week ago. The numbness isn't as severe, but there's still a touch of it in my left leg. Anyone experience numbness with synthroid, or with thyroid issues in general? I am diagnosed with Hashimotos... Maybe I don't need the synthroid? Maybe I need more? Less? I'm only on 50 mcgs. Any experiences you've had and would like to share would be helpful. Thank you!

I don't think the synthoid caused it.
Try going back on it and see if the migraine comes back. If it does then it's the medicine.

You need to go back on the synthroid. Low thyroid CAUSES numbness and tingling. You need to stick to the prescription for the rest of your life and take the medicine as directed so that the level given can be tested and then adjusted until your levels are corrected and your symptoms will improve.

Sorry i disagree. I have been trying to take thyroid for over a year. Off and on/off and on. Every time I take it, i get the numbness in the feet, my arms and hands fall asleep at night, and i get a buzzing sensation that goes through the right side of my head behind my ear. I have had multiple work ups for this with some pretty well known neuros in dallas and in NY and they have said it is nothing neurological, something with the thyroid. bruce

I have never had any tingling or numbness in my feet or hands UNTIL taking Synthroid. I am discontinuing it ASAP. I was prescribed this because my thyroid is on the low side of normal. This was not effecting me so the common sense thing to do is stop trying to fix what is not broken. I really think we (people in general) need to consider if taking synthetic hormones and pharmaceutical drugs are worth it. I'm just saying :-)
