Do you think a Endo will treat me for hypo?

New to forum and I was hoping I could get some feedback on my thyroid, symptoms, tests and the possibility the Endo I see next week will start me on medication. I am thankful for any insights you might have from your experience.

The saga, background info: my mom had her thyroid removed when she was in her 50s because of Hashimoto's diseasae, in my 20s I put on thyroid medication for about six months because of thyroiditis, 2 yrs ago my GYN noticed my thyroid was enlarged, I had blood tests and an ultra sound that indicated I had low level of Hashimoto's the Endo I saw didn’t want to treat and I wasn’t feeling any symptoms so didn’t start medication.

Last yr. GYN wasn’t happy the Endo wouldn’t treat, I asked her for a reference and I’ll see the Endo she recommends next week. Starting last year, I started to have issues that I didn’t connect to my thyroid, I have constant brain fog but the big issue is I can’t eat without feeling sick. My GP gave me Prevacid and I started to lose weight about 30 lbs (I was over weight but not now ;-). In December I went to a GI and was diagnosed with gastroparesis or slow stomach. The brain fog is worse, hot/cold, for the last month I am dizzy for hrs every day and I’m getting bad headaches a few times a month and I am constantly fatigued. I thought they symptoms were related to going through menopause. I feel I can barely hold on to my job between my stomach issues and not being able to think. I ended up taking vacation time this week because I can’t think and it’s causing a lot of anxiety.

Looking into Gastroparesis I saw a connection between it and hypothyroidism saw my GP and had some blood work done, my TSH is 5.8 also my cholesterol went from 88 to 109 in 2 years. My GP wants me to come back in 2 months but I’m going to the Endo because I have to get better or quit work but I have a kid in College and need the salary and health care. I’m going to try and get my tests results from the US and blood work from 2 years ago before my appt.

My fear is the Endo won’t treat me, what do you think?

Robin, I would think that with those figures and the symptons you're having, the doc will probably want to treat. He may want to do a complete evaluation, including ultrasound and/or scan before starting the treatment. It's always best to know what's going on before starting meds.

I'm new to this but you really need a current ultrasound and with those lab numbers they should be checked at least every 6 months.

I feel for you. I have some of your symptoms, all but the nausea. I hope you find some help and get the relief you need.
