I also was on Levoxyl and from my research, it seems that all forms of it have been recalled and the manufacturer doesn't plan to ship it again till 2014 at the earliest. I was quite pissed that I didn't find out about
this until I was at the pharmacy trying to refill my prescript
ion and I had like 3 days left of my pills.
I ended up getting switched to Synthroid. I just made sure that they didn't give me generic. I was willing to pay a little more for brand name. With my thyroid medicine, I'm not willing to skimp. :)
I didn't get my new medication till I had been off my Levoxyl for like 7 days. I was a bit confused about
how I felt cause I am hypothyroid but I was having really crazy heart palpitations. And I continued to have them for about
a week after I started the Synthroid. But, it seems to have gone away and my heart seems like its beating normally now... thank God. :) I haven't noticed any other symptoms from being on the synthroid.
Once I find a new endocrinologist I'm going to ask them about
Tirosint ... I have heard good things about
it and its supposed to be the purest form of thyroid meds right now as its just a gel cap with the T-4, water, gelatin and glycerin.
Hope that helps. :)
