Hi all I'm new here, just wondering if someone can help me understand what's been going on with me?

These are my results starting with my last test first. At first I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism, now I am hypothyroid?

Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroiditis can cause erratic levels at times, varying from hyper to hypo, so this may be a possibility. Are you receiving any treatment now?

I was on 10mg Carbimazole, until December blood tests and I have just picked up a prescription for Levothyroxine Ta 100mcg which is once a day.

I don't see the specialist until the 27th Feb. Is it likely that my levels will somewhat normalize by then?

Hi,
If you were on 10 mg Carbimazole, then this is why your TSH is high, since this medication is an anti thyroid medication.

Why were you put on Methimazole ? since your TPOab and TGab are elevated, indicate an autoimmune thyroiditis, this can be Hashimoto or Graves.

The solution to your high TSH(hypo) is not adding Levo, but reducing the dose of Carbimazole, or even stopping it if you are not hyper, however, don't change your dose without an instruction from your doctor,don't self medicate your self.

Thanks for your reply, I stopped taking Carbimizole on the 31st of December so about three weeks ago now. I will now only be on Levo.

Methimazole? I haven't heard of that, never been on it before.

Also, since stopping the carbimizole the hypo has gotten worse?

Methimazole is the active form of Carbimazole.

it makes no sense to get the hypo worse when stopping the methimazole, methimazole will caube use your TSH to rise, TSH goes counter intuitive, so when stopping the methimazole, your TSH should reduce, specially when having Graves, but it is possible that with Hashimoto, it will at the beginning swing between hypo and hyper.

How long were you on the Carbimazole? Was that the only dose you were on?
It seems to me that you were put on the carbimazole for hyperthyroidism. That's a moderate dose even though your numbers were elevated enough that many doctors would give a higher dose.
Ideally, one should have blood work after the first four weeks. Some patients can have their starting doses halved then if the T3 and T4 start moving. (TSH can stay repressed for a good few months.) It's good to have blood work every 6 weeks and have the dose reduced, gradually, weaning off it. It's best to stop at a low dose, like 5 mg. or 2.5 (half a 5 mg. pill.) You reacted really fast, which is a good thing, and yeah, some sort of thyroiditis sounds likely.
