Hives

Hi all..i have been taking .25mg Synthroid for a underactive thyroid its been 1 week now but I been having hives sinds I started it is this common ??

You could be reacting to one of the binders or coloring agents in the tablets. Do call your doctor; sometimes changing to brand name will help if this is the case.

Any medication can cause an allergic reaction. You should bring this up to your doctor and have both blood work and a scratch test done to determine the root cause of the allergic reactions.

I've taken simple medications such as Zyrtec for my allergies, as well as Benadryl and Epinephrine for the more serious reactions.

Since my sensitivity is higher than normal, the Allergist gave me the option to start on desensitizing shots which would lower over all sensitivity.

I highly recommend seeing an allergist if you are getting hives so frequently.
