My Hypothyroid meds all stop working

I have tried Synthroid, Armour and now Naturethroid and all stop working over a short period of time. Now what?

Also, my immune system is getting low and basos high, which I read can be associated.

What's up with that? Anyone experience this? What can help? Looking for a good doctor in the Rockwall, Tx area that can help me with this.

Would love some interaction ......

Actually desperate for some answers......

Have you ever tried synthroid plus cytomel or some other synthetic T3?

No I haven't. But I will investigate that.

When I took Synthroid I was one of the lucky few that actually gains weight as a side effect. Ug. I already thought I was fat. I didn't lose it with the other meds either.

Regaining hormonal stasis isn't a magic bullet for weight loss, but it helps a lot.
Many people do well on synthroid alone but some don't. Doctors who think outside the synthroid box are probably more likely to do full thyroid testing and appropriate monitoring. Are you satisfied your doctors have all along?

Truthfully I think my thyroid and hormonal imbalances are a symptom and not the cause.

I had considered a "functional" medicine doc or a DO to try to find the root cause but it's just a matter of 3 things:

1. TIME (do I take a step into another patient/doc relationship and allow the doc a few years to work on me? And hopefully not develop worse things while trying?)

2. MONEY (not into experimenting with maybees, like IVs and herbs- I'm limited)

3. COMPETENCY (Who can really help me? Reviews online really can be subjective)

My current doc tests all aspects of my thyroid. I wish there was a Thyroid Guru out there. I have mercury fillings I tried to get rid of a few years ago-- maybe that did it. I had to go back to the mercury as the white porcelain was too thin and painful to eat with. Idk. :(

I always thought Mary Shomon was the guru ;-) Elaine Moore's pretty good too. She's devoted a lot of time to hyper but is now hypo herself and knows a lot. As do people here.

Not having been hypo, I'm on the outside looking in. I know that there are doctors who go by TSH alone, or poo poo the need to monitor and replace T3. Beyond that, I don't know what else one can do. I know of practitioners who talk about iodine and it might have some role in healing. Personally, as a formerly hyper person, I'm leery of iodine. And it's not so easy to find someone with a holistic approach who's on insurance. And it's not so easy to find someone competent with a holistic approach. Good luck!
