I had a thyroid storm may 20th with all the bells and whistles...They put me on 25 mgs pf Methimazole a day, and it worked like a charm. I gained back 20 lbs in 6 weeks and feel real good, but every once in a wile I feel the hyper nodule in my neck kicking up a bit, but no other symptoms, then it goes away...Im wondering if food, exercise, or something I can correct is causing it to wake up once in a wile...Any experience out there that can assist? Going in for blood work this week...

Are you still on 25 mg.? You're probably due for a dose reduction.
I don't know how nodules impact things. Some people opt for partial thyroidectomy if they can't get their hyper under control with anti thyroid drugs.
There is an interesting approach to using ATDs called block and replace. The patient stays on a higher (but still moderate) dose of ATDs while simultaneously on thyroid replacement such as synthroid. The time table is usually longer than ATDs alone; the course is something like 2 -3 years. But this prolonged period of medication and monitoring allows the thyroid to heal and can be a good option with the right doctor.

Im tapering off the methimazole, and the new blood test back with my TSH being 104 with a norm of 7, so its pretty high, the t3 n t4 are back to normal, so now they want me to take synthroid to lower the TSH numbers...Im pretty symptomatic at this point just getting off the Methimazole, sleeping a lot run down head aches shaky, and so on...But...I am concerned about taking the synthroid and ending up bouncing into tachycardia like a rubber band...I suggested keeping the taper going, but she said the methimazole will cancel out the synthroid...I have ulcerative colitis and this is presenting more problems as far as complication goes...A real pain in the butt...lol

I'm really not sure what to say. A few random thoughts:
There is a treatment option called block and replace, where a patient is kept on a relatively high dose of anti thyroid drug and synthroid added to the mix. The idea of taking both at the same time is that the patient will stay on ATDs longer, giving the thyroid more time to rest.
Also, people react to ATDs differently, some more strongly than others so need dose adjustments at different intervals. It's not uncommon to flirt with hypo while trying to tweak the dose. But I'm concerned about your having gone up to 104 (!). That might mean your dr. was waiting for the TSH to budge before adjusting your dose and that's bad medicine. It's very common for TSH to stay suppressed well into treatment. Dosing must be based on T4 and T3 instead.

Good point, But the TSH test just came back after 6 weeks of Methimazole, so it was a shock to her when she saw the test results....Everything else came back to normal CRP, T4 T3 and so on...I think Im going to see her before I drop off the Methimazole...I bounced the idea about keeping the Methimazole and adding the synthroid, but she told me one would cancel out the other which didn't sound right to me...104 is pretty high, and I would think it would drop just by me tapering off the methimazole...T3, n 4 are back to normal...

I'm sorry. I meant to go back to your OP to see if you mentioned how long you were on, I totally forgot to.
You mention a hyper nodule. What are the ramifications? I don't have nodules. This might seem extreme but some people have even gone for partial thyroidectomies.
And I assume you're seeing a recommended endo? Was this storm your first experience with thyroid disease?
