This is something that I came across, quite literally, by accident ( it just popped up on my screen) but thought the info might be worth sharing.
This article (by a medical doctor) warns that women who have taken both natural and/or synthetic thyroid hormones, such as Synthroid, for a period of 15 years plus have an inreased risk of 200% (yes, 200..not a typo) of developing breast cancer due to iodine deficiencies.
Since I will have to take synthetic thyroid hormones for the rest of my life, I, like many of you, will fall into this category. Since frequent bloodwork is routine for most of us, I'll be asking my endocrinoligist to add iodine levels to mine.
