Wow! I have 3 out of 3! Very interesting. I just joined HW today through the Mutliple Sclerosis forum as I was diagnosed 10 days ago. I first was diagnosed with Hashimoto's at the age of 16 (21 years ago...but whose counting!) I had a very large goiter and was hyperthyroid at the time. They did do a partial thyroidectomy at that time and I lived normally and medicine free until I was 24 and crashed hard! No more thyroid function left at all! Since then, I have been on meds and initially had some problems with med levels and finding the correct brand. Hashimoto's is pretty easy to control as long as your levels are checked regulary and meds adjusted as needed. The only words of wisdom I can lend are "Never let yourself be only a number!" If the Dr. says your labs are normal but you still feel crappy, don't settle for it! I have been through 11 Endos trying to find one who would listen to how I was feeling. I finally found a wonderful Endo who discovered I had a conversion problem (converting T4 to T3) and added a dose of T3 to my Synthroid. Doing better now! No more brittle broom hair and my eyebrows are starting to grow back! Still have problems with extreme fatigue but sure its due to the MS. Is there anyone else who has Hashi's and MS out there? Looking for info on combating the fatigue.
