Thyroid treated with radiation

I've actually never heard the term "brittle" used to describe thyroid conditions. It's usually used to describe a type of Type I diabetes where the blood sugar level fluctuates widely and quickly, making the monitoring and timing of insulin more difficult. Some people who have thyroid conditions are more difficult to stabilize than others, and I assume that was what that poster referred to.

Are you sure you were treated for hypothyroidism? RAI is most often used to treat hyperthyroidism, to inactivate part of all of the gland to decrease the hormone production. I had this done in 1993. I then became very hypothyroid for about six months, and it did take regular testing and medication adjustments to stabilize. I believe my last dosage adjustment was about 2000, and was just a minor increase. I take 200 micrograms of Levothyroxine daily and have been stable now for almost ten years. Hopefully yours will stabilize as time goes by also.

I haven't been diagnosed with fibro, but I have had an assortment of other autoimmune diseased. Frankly, I have pain all over but I'm resistant to getting it diagnosed because I just don't need another label right now!
