Hypothyroid and slow heart rate

okay this slower heart rate is freaking me out. my heart rate is usually 76-85 and lately it has been 58-66 - is this okay? i weigh about 145 and am 5'4 - 40 years old. i work out some but not an athlete by any means. i take synthroid and my current tsh was 4.5 - i lowered my synthroid by myself about a mnth ago cause my heartrate was always high - like 85 when i woke up and bothered me.

i also have hbp and take a low dose beta blocker. i just wonder why this current low heart rate? should i be concerned? when i had my son 4 years ago i was told to stop my synthroid and my tsh got really high and my heart rate was around 55 - my endocrinologist told me this was nothing to worry about. seems slow though.

what is your resting heart rate? i just want it to stay in the middle - like 70-75 ha

it's making me anxious! ugh

Mine runs around 68. I have hypothyroidism, too.
Do you have low body temp, too?
Mine runs at 97.1.

mine runs around 96.4 - but i have checked my kids with my temporal thermometer too and theirs runs around the same.

I took my pulse awhile ago and it was 61. I guess it varies.

yes i do - it's been around 75-80 now today - i guess it's when i'm relaxing it gets low. i guess i'm just a weirdo. ha

I was wondering did you have these symptoms:
Face swelling
tightness in front of your throat
leg swelling
water retention (alot) I get 10 lbs if I don't take my 2 lasix a day.
Grumpy
Grouchy
impatience
severe fatigue (falling asleep when relaxed)
sleep apnea
dry itchy skin

My doctor keeps saying I don't have a goiter so I don't have Hastimoto's? Do you find that true?

i don't have a goiter either - but sometimes i can feel my thyroid a little enlarged.
you don't have to have a goiter - he can tell by your thyroid antibodies in your blood. if you are taking synthroid though it should help.
i do have dry skin and i am always cold.
and yes my throat feels tight sometimes. feels weird.
i used to take levoxyl but switched to synthroid for some reason. think they are the same thing though.
when i take the amount my doctors have always told me to take - my pulse will be like 80-90 when i wake up - i hate it!! so i take less. i am now taking 3/4 of what he tells me to. he is prescribing me 75 mcg and i will half. cause 25 isn't enough and 50 is too much. ugh!! finding the right dose is hard!!!

Tell him about the reaction you're getting. He may have to switch you to that other kind called Amour (sp?). You might be having a reaction to it.

It's hard to tell if I have a goiter because I have a fat neck with overhanging chin. I have a very hard time losing weight. I can just look at food an gain 3 pounds.

Last time I was at the doctor I asked if he was sure it wasn't Hashimoto's, he felt my neck and said no, you don't have a goiter.
I've got a call into his nurse to see my report on my latest levels.

What gets me the worse is the brain fog! I'm a teacher and I'll forget something and it will drive me nuts! My job relies on my memory being sharp.

The other day I forgot that a child had gone somewhere with another teacher and I asked my parapro to go looking for him, because I though he was still in the bathroom. It took me 10 minutes to remember that he was with the other teacher. :<
I'm only 42 and my memory is that of a 70 yr old sometimes.

how much synthroid are you taking and what was your tsh last time it was checked? mine also checked my t4 levels. my endo when i was preggo 4 yrs ago checked my antibodies and he said he is pretty sure i have it since they were really high.

I've never been told what my levels are. :(

I've only had this for 10 months.

I take 75mg. It used to be 100mg and he said it was too much and lowered it.

My first doctor I had been going to for almost 10 years didn't think anything was wrong when my legs started swelling back last March. I told him something was wrong. I felt "wrong". He relented and did one basic thyroid test and said nothing's wrong, but he gave me a Lasix a day. He said I was a "high" normal (whatever that means). My legs kept swelling really bad. After a month of swelling I changed doctors.

The new doctor ran alot of tests and told me I had hypothyroidism, but not Hastimoto's. He gave me synthoid, 2 lasix a day and K-dur (potasium).

I'm thinking of going to a specialist.

I last saw him in Feburary and he said don't come back for six months since I was stable.

you should go to an endocrinologist - that would be helpful and you should always know your tsh and t3 and t4 and antibody levels - get the normal and what you are so you know how your body is doing. it helps to stay informed. i've never had the swelling. ugh

i only take a small dose - i was on 50 mcg and now i'm taking half of a 75 mcg
today my throat feels weird like tight - i do not like that feeling - but i forgot my medicine this morning. ran out. not sure if a day matters i'm also reallly tired - couldn't sleep last night because of a neck pain. i should go to bed.

I was able to finally hear from my doctor's nurse...

TSH 3.00 (The doctor I saw yesterday said it was low and my doctor's nurse said it was low)

T4 1.22

T3 1.10

No antibodies levels recorded for me to know. :(

Oh I have hypothyroidism as well, and man oh man, I get sweaty,hot flashes,so tired,and my meds are now at 25 mcg...I was at 100, this was about 7 years ago...they discovered this when I was prego on my twins....and now they say all is well with the level I am on....I am overweight, and cannot lose any....:(...

I go see my endo on Fri, as my sugars are now out of whack....I have hypoglycemia....also went to see GP, cause she wanted to speak with me about my last bloodwork...my RBC,HgB,HcT & MCV are all really high,,,,,ughh,,,there is no end.....I am also puffy,,,feel like crap and well on top of it all I have Gastroparesis,,,,that can only be helped with an elemental diet....which means NO FOOD, and that does not go over well with the hypoglycemia thing......OH some one save me........

That's okay. People with thyroid problems are prone to moodiness.

This topic is a little old, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents. I'm have only mild hypothyroidism. I'm on the lowest dose of Cytomel (a larger dose gives me insomnia), and I haven't started taking Synthroid yet.

My resting heart rate is in the mid to low 50's. It's not unusual for it to drop down into the 40's. I don't think that there is anything wrong with it. My normal body temperature is around 97, but I can easily drop down to around 96. It just goes with the territory.
