I'm a 21-year-old female who's had tons of symptoms for the past three months and never suspected a thyroid issue until recently. I went to a health clinic a couple days ago and saw a nurse practitioner who decided to take some blood and check for thyroid issues. I've read that the results can come back normal even if you do have a problem, so regardless of what the tests say I'm going to look more into it and maybe talk more about
it with my regular doctor. However, I'm very anxious about
the test results so I'll post my symptoms here to see what you guys think.
-I've had morning sickness similar to a pregnant woman off and on. (I AM NOT PREGNANT!) Usually a couple hours before I normally wake up I'll get woken up by a stomach ache. Sometimes I vomit, sometimes I don't. I was vomiting every day but it's rare now. For about
a week now I actually haven't been nauseous at all in the mornings. I still can't eat much when I first wake up and I used to have no problem eating first thing in the morning.
-Constant lightheaded/dizzy feeling, usually if I'm doing anything besides laying in bed. Sometimes I have spells where I actually feel like I'm going to faint.
-Lightheadedness if I haven't eaten, and then again after I eat.
-Heart palpitations
-Hair loss and dandruff. I've always lost a decent amount of hair every time I shower but now it's noticeably thinner. My scalp is also very flaky and nothing seems to help.
-Fluctuations in appetite. Sometimes I'll have no appetite and other days I'll want to eat everything in sight. This is making me think it's some kind of hormonal thing going on.
-Occasional slight numbness/weakness in the left side of my body
-More visible veins all over my body, which lead me to believe that my skin might be thinner
-Slight vertical ridges on fingernails... I normally wouldn't think anything of this or even notice but I read it could be a sign of thyroid disease.
-Increased anxiety. I've always had anxiety but it seems worse now... maybe just because I'm stressed out about
my health.
Right before all these symptoms started I had a flu-like illness that lasted about
a week with low grade fever, body aches, and nausea but I'm not sure if it's related to the other stuff that's been going on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
