strange thyroid symptom ?

I'm Gary, 64 yrs. old and having thyroid problems...the last TSH was a few months ago at 5.0 up from 4.5 about 3 months before that..I do have several of the hypo symptoms ie. dry brittle thinning hair, often cold, loosing part of my eyebrows, and more along with multiple small nodules on both sides that are being monitered by sonogram, but the biggest concern is if i touch my thyroid it really flares up into almost a burning sensation that lasts for a couple minutes sometimes....very uncomfortable ! I've been looking on various websites to try to get more insight in my symptoms but havent been successful.......any help would be appreciared....thanks

Thanks so much for your reply, I was just wondering if anyone else might be having or might have heard of the burning flareup of the thyroid when touched that Ive been experiencing.......I finally convinced my VA doc to run the blood labs for antibodies last week so should have that info next week, but she has told me that my TSH of 5 is still within normal limits so she wont write anything for me yet. Ive been using iodine and selenium to get me by until I can find a thyroid doc that might have a clue how to help me......desperately needin a knowledgeable thyr. guy I can work with in N.E Indiana

I think, we cannot come to conclusion as per your symptoms. Because, the major thyroid symptoms are losing hair suddenly, intolerance of heat, feeling tiredness, losing weight and etc., if you feel all these symptoms are seen, better to get diagnosed and come to conclusion then go for treatment.
