Does it hurt much?   I get one this Friday and freaking out with needles in the neck.  The tech may or may not use numbing before starting the test.  I have two pills I can take before the test to help me relax but need to know what to expect before this Friday.  Thanks for any help,  watching it on you tube doesn't help me either.  I don't know why I can't be put to sleep for this test.  I get put to sleep at the dentist office.

Thanks again for any words of wisdom.

Welcome to HealingWell, Foster Mom. I'm sorry that I can't answer your questions as I have never had a needle biopsy. Likely your doctor isn't set up to do sedation in his office; most physicians aren't. I do know it's a pretty short procedure, and that's probably also part of the reason. It sounds as if your anxiety level is pretty high in general, and of course is made worse by the thought of a medical procedure. Do call your doctor's office to discuss this and ask if they will offer you sedation, knowing that this may necessitate a short-stay hospital admission and entail much more time and cost for you.

I hope some of our members who have had this procedure done will stop in to help you. I will check out that site thanks.  I will have it done at the hospital.  I would gladly pay out of pocket to be put under for the test but they won't do it.  Thanks again.

The biospy was easy.  No real pain just freaked myself out.  The two nerve pills helped me stay calm.  Now the results show the right side is normal and the left side is underdetermine.  Don't know where to go from here.

They have gene testing they can do with a company called Affirma. I had the same result and luckily my doctor had the foresight to do the gene testing. The left side came back as 40% suspicious for cancer. They removed my thyroid to test the whole thing and it ended up not being cancer.
But i'm glad it's gone, my lumps have steadily been growing for the past 13 years and was starting to press on my vocal chords. Didn't your doctor suggest re-biopsying? if not you should request the gene testing.

Thanks I will ask the doctor this week about gene testing.  And no they didn't talk about re-testing with another biopsy.  Did you notice any changes in you or your body after your thyroid was removed?
