Hello, my name is Christina and I am 25. about
3 weeks ago I was having some tightness in my throat, for no apparent reason. I thought maybe I was getting a sore throat or something but when I looked I never saw anything. I pushed it aside, until I kept getting this feeling like something was choking me at the bottom of my neck. I felt around with my fingers and felt a hard lump on the right side just above my collar bonw. I asked my mother to feel and she said maybe it was a swollen lymph node. and I told her lymph nodes were up under the jaw line and your thyroid was down at the base of your neck. I began to get worried, as im sure everyone on here did at first. I wasn't sure what was going on.. this never happened to me before. I was freaking out. I thought maybe it would just go away, but the constant tightness and feeling like I was being choke and the on and off pain had me worried. I went to my PCP and she confirmed that yes my thyroid was swollen. She sent me for an ultra sound of my thyroid and the tests came back that I had a nodule on the right side of my thyroid. I just went for my TSH blood work today.. I was just wondering what the normal range for that was? are all thyroid nodules serious?
I was scheduled to see a thyroid specialist and it was urgent...that has me really really scared .. I don't know what to think or what to feel or whats going on. some positive insight would be awesome.
my mother has hypothyroidism and is the only person I know of in my family that has thyroid issues...but she never had any nodules on hers... im extremely scared as to what is going to happen or what even caused this to happen...please help
