Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum but am kind of active on the lupus forums (because I have lupus).
My 8 year old daughter had a TSH of 59 (normal is less than 4.9) and a normal Free T4. She had no symptoms at all. She was a little chubby and had trouble healing some skin issues (she was picking at them) so we took her in to have her checked for diabetes. Was blown away by the TSH level of 59. Went to an Endo and he put her on Synthroid. Levels are down to 12 now so he increased her dose a bit to get her to the normal range.
The thing is - she had no symptoms at all. Good grades, no fatigue etc. When I read up on Hashimotos this really surprises me (that she had no symptoms). She doesnt feel any different at all being on the meds.
Anyone have an opinion on this? Not saying she doesnt have Hasimotos (that is what the Endo diagnosed) but it seems odd that her T4 could be that high with no symptoms.
Thanks!
