Graves' disease remission???

My endocrinologist does blood work every few months and I am now on 5mg Tapazole daily for Graves. I have been on Tapazole since August '15.

Latest bloodwork shows free T4 at .90 (range .73-1.95) and TSH is 16.4 (range .5-4.7). Instructions are to decrease 5mg Tapazole to every other day. I have a follow up with Doctor next week.
I am questioning the TSH level here. In the past tests, the TSH has been .1 and .2.

Do these readings point to possible remission OR has my thyroid gone hypo? I have noticed lately lower energy level and a slight slow,weight gain? Is this being caused by that TSH reading?

Remission will be good news....hoping that is coming into play soon! And if I am, might I just stay that way?

The readings probably indicate the tapazole is working and your dosage now needs to be decreased as your doctor has recommended. Your TSH will go up as your hyperthyroidism gets better. Treatment for Graves, whether RAI or medication, commonly results in your becoming hypothyroid. Then medication is adjusted until you stabilize in the euthyroid (normal) range. So it isn't remission as such, merely the medication working as it is supposed to.

Thank you. So does this mean I will be put on another med soon? And how long will it take for thyroid to level off? i guess what I am asking if what is ahead for me once you become hypothyroid?

Trying to get the big picture in mind....am not liking this weight gain or how I am feeling compared to how good I was feeling!

I see the Endo on Monday!
