good day...i need a help im having hypothyroid since in the middle of lastyear.but but it am hyperthyroid before and i undergo rai 2yrs ago..its been nearly 1 1/2 yrs im experiencing dizziness(i feel out of balance) everyday,occasionally headache,numbness of hands,feet,face area,weakness and feeling faint,trouble breathing i cant explain if its gasping or shallow breathing i feel faint or i cant able to walk around 1km i feel faint..i cannot even work for nearly 2yrs because of this i dont know if its thyroid related or anything else i also dont know what to do...please help me..god bless us

When was the last time you performed thyroid function test ? for how much time are you on the current dose of levo? what dose ?

im taking 25mg levo(euthyrox)since october.i just had my thyroid test last feb 7...my tsh result was 5.16..many thanks

Dear yra,

25 mcg/day is most probably an initial dose for you and you will need to increase the dose, your TSH from Feb is indicative of being hypo, your dose of Euthyrox need to be increased but since I am not a qualified Endo I do not know by how much, If you are following up with an Endo then you need to ask him ASAP !

What was the reason for the RAI ?

After taking RAI you will become permanently hypo and need to be put on Levothyroxine for the rest of your life, if you took the RAI to treat Graves which is causing you hyper then you just need to adjust your dose based on blood tests (TSH) until you become symptom free.

In case of thyroid cancer (and I hope it is not), then you still need to follow up with an Endo since you need to be on a suppressing dose of Levo.
