Hello,
I am 61 years old and other then this hypothyroidism I am in good health. I take 60 mg of armour. My t4 was 1.2 and she said that was normal. I've had hypothyroidism for about a year. Before I got hypothyroidism I weighted 145 pounds very active all my life. Now I weigh 160 pounds and most of the time I feel very lazy and don't care to do anything. I eat very healthy and try to walk everyday. Will I ever lose this weight and feel normal again? The doctor said that she won't increase my med because of the side affect of bone lost and other reasons. Can you help?

hi sweetnona, sorry no one else has responded. I have the same problem with weight gain. I do not take armor, I take synthroid. Do you know what your TSH is??? Can you get another doctor? I wonder if you are still hypo even though your t4 level is normal?
If you get an answer, let me know! I've had a problem with pre-diabetes and I think that might be why I am gaining weight. That is the only explanation I can come up with right now. I have never gained weight like this and I've had hypothyroid for almost 20 years. I've had a slow weight gain but this year, it's been 15 pounds. It used to take me years to gain that much weight.
I'd get a 2nd opinion from another doc if I were in your shoes. Good luck and sorry you are going through this. I feel your pain......

I was told by Dr. Go by TSH. I was just taken from 112 to 88 mcg. This is hypo and said I will swell and gain weight. I've gained 20 lbs already trying to get it regulated. From 112 I went from .52 to .29. I feel great . I need a specialist, none close by. Very hard to find in my area
