Lialda?

Anyone know much about Lialda?  Anyone switched from asacol?  I keep seeing the add but havent really heard of anyone taking it...just curious

I've been on it since March. I don't think it does anything for me. I've continued to take it, but I've been on pred. and azathioprine for most of that duration, so I believe it is those drugs that are helping. But I haven't had any bad side effects yet, so I guess I'll continue to take it. I figure if it helps any inflammation at all, then it is worth it. Fortunately I can get it pretty cheap through insurance, because it isn't cheap otherwise!

I have been taking it for about three months, I really didn't think any of those drugs were woking for me (Asacol, Colazal or Lialda) until I was taken off the Colazal for a little bit last Feb.; they do seem to help somewhat. But I can't even achieve complete remission on Prednisone.

Anyway, the best thing about the Lialda is you only have to take it once a day. It's really nice being able to just take all my meds in the morning and not have to deal with them again until the next day.

I took asacol then switched to Lialda.  4 tabs of Lialda a day for a few months. but am taking 2 a day now (both in the morning).  Had no side effects switching from one to the other.  My GI doc said that the Lialda is not as hard on the system as asacol is.  Good Luck

I was on Asacol for 18 months with poor response, in fact, I was considering surgery! My GI asked me if I would like to be in a drug study and, of course, I said yes. The study was on Lialda, and it worked wonders for me. I was unhappy when I "flunked" out of the study. My insurance does pay for the drug. i can only say that it worked wonders for me and I don't want to go back to Asacol and the awful prednisone.

I switched from Asacol to Lialda at the end of August '07.  I take 2 pills (2.4 GM) once a day.  Before I switched I had blood in my stool (this was my only symptom of UC @ the time) and after being on Lialda the blood completely went away within a matter of a few weeks.    I think the reason Lialda helped me is because with the Asacol I was never consistently taking the pills b/c i was suppose to be taking them 3 times a day and I would always forget.  Also, Lialda is suppose to reach further down in the colon then Asacol so this could also be why it helped me more.  I haven't noticed any side effects or problems w/ Lialda.

I have had success with Lialda...perhaps its that I have a milder case of UC than the general population that inhabits this board. Lialda is great for me, I take two pills in the morning and it keeps me in remission. I used Rowassa in conjunction with the Lialda for a while and finally tapered off it. It is really all about finding what meds work and stick with them. I am just saying Lialda works for me. So don't rule it out. Good luck!
