There has been a lot of discussion regarding MAP possibly causing Crohn's on the Crohn's forum. You may want to do a search for MAP in the blue box on the top of the page.
Interesting article, but i'm wondering where the writer gets some of their info, such as this statement:
"It has also been my experience that there is nearly ALWAYS some type of unresolved emotional trauma that occurred before the age of six and is buried deep in the subconscious. This can be something devastating like sexual abuse, but far more commonly it is related to some parental interaction that was relatively minor, but to the child, it was absolutely devastating. Until this is cleared up it is VERY difficult to obtain improvement."
I've never read any research to suggest this. At points, it sounds like more of an opinion piece than an article based in facts. Still an interesting read and thanks for posting.
Actually that's an old theory. Way back in the bad old days, everyone "knew" that Crohn's and UC were both "neurotic" diseases - that they were caused by emotional instability and a "neurotic" (i.e. non-coping) personality. Even when I was in college, they said that these things were strong contributers to the diseases.
But that was back when they also "knew" that childhood autism was caused by an emotionally cold mother.
