thyroid removal helps with ulcerative colitis

they had found a large growth on my thyroid in October, they did the biopsy and the cells looked strange,  they went in the first week of November and removed all but the 4 corners of my thyroid.  The growth they had been seeing was not cancer after all BUT they did find one hiding behind the other one it was only 5 mm in size and by removal it took care of it to no need for radiation -------

but since then my UC has seemed to stay in check, only going to bathroom my normal couple times in the morning and a few in the evening

(this week has been off due to stress) but still for the most part staying in check.

Anyone ever heard of a connection between the thyroid removal and ulcerative colitis

Interesting...it seems thyroid disorders/disease can coexist with UC for some. It also seems that the thyroid disorder/disease must be dealt with effectively in order for the UC to be dealt with effectively as well.

Makes sense since many of us have UC and other autoimmune disease.

I think anything that is related to hormones can alter remission. I have heard of women with UC who get pregnant and immediately go in remission and stay they for some time. So I would think that it's not uncommon to experience a change.

Kinda of sad for us. UC goes hand and hand with so many other problems.
Did mother nature not think UC was bad enough on it's own.

I know that when I preg it all went away also, but then came back with a terror. I would just like more research to be done
