UC and joint pain

Hi everyone!  I haven't been on in a long time.....right now I'm doing pretty good been in remission for over a year with no medications.  I was on Prednisone, Imuran and Remicade.  Had a bad reaction to Remicade but it did help my UC.  I got pregnant in late Feb, early March and had a baby in Nov all with no UC problems.  The last few weeks I started having joint pain and swelling.  Mostly in my ankles, wrists and somewhat in my knees.  One doctor I saw mentioned that UC can cause joint inflammation and pain similar to RA.  Iart's not super bad right now, seems worse in the morning. Has anyone else had this?  Can I have the joint problems with out being in a flare?  I have had UC for about 10 years and I really don't want to go back on meds if I don't have to.

I have had worse joint pain since being diagnosed with UC.  I do find that it gets a bit worse with a flare up.  but Also,   it got so much worse after my last flare up and has not improved.   I'm thinking the reason is because of the high steroids I was on while flaring and while in the hospital.  Prednisone makes your body age faster than normal,  so I"m thinking it aged my joints so much more as well.

i also get joint pain randomly and then it will just go away as quickly as it came.
for me it has only been since the onset of UC.
mine is in shoulders elbows and hands. very painful.

anyway, my GI just let me know that glucosamine is safe for us with UC to take for the joint pain. i haven't tried it yet but from what i hear you have to give it some time, it's not like taking a tylenol.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  I'm going to talk to my newest PC when I go in for my appointment.  I'm on state medicaid so I was assigned to one doctor, saw her twice and was not pleased.  When I mentioned the joint pain to her she didn't even examine me then told me to take Motrin and flexeril.  First Flexeril is for muscle spasms so I don't know how it will help joint pain.  Second I told her I can't take Motrin due to having gastric bypass surgery and UC.  She told me that I should just take the Motrin and eat with it.
