not sure if i'm getting too personal, but when i was on prednisone, I could physically perform the task at hand, but couldnt 'feel' it... hope that helps w/o getting graphic

I decided to read this thread out of curiosity. I was actually delighted and reassured when I read that others felt a definite increase in libido from pred. I'm female but it acts like Viagra on me...it is very difficult to tell my doctors exactly why I really, really don't want to take it anymore. My husband of 30 years died 1.5 yrs ago. <sigh, tears> Now that I know I am not the only one to experience the pred sex effect, I will be a little more forthcoming with the doc. Thanks for sharing....

I really want to thank icepixycicle for starting this thread. It's been great to hear from others regarding a subject thats hard to talk about at the best of times, especially with the doc!

Also been comforting to know its not just me!

Pb4, I don't know, I am still confused about my diagnosis. I used to have an ulcerated patch in my colon when I was diagnosed with UC in '95. Now I have this near rectal-vaginal fistula and nothing else... someone on here told me I might be one of the unlucky ones with both UC and Crohn's, but my GI swears it's UC. I asked him how he knows and he said the biopsies come back as UC... I don't know anymore. UGH. Oh, and for the people with positive experiences with their drive and Prednisone, I am happy for you. I wanted to strangle my DH while on Prednisone.

Something seems fishy princesscolon because fistulas are directly related to crohns and not UC, especially rectal/vaginal fistulas.

Maybe get a second opinion, and/or ask your present GI what the pattern of inflammation he saw was...if any.

It really depends on how bad my symptoms are. If I’m having an unusually bad day I have no interest in sex. Other times it is my wife that has a low sex drive because of my UC.

LOL!!!! Oh my gosh! Thanks SO much for the laughs! and the serious talk.

I finally realized that my husband desires me no matter what! A few extra pounds from pred - doesn't bother him. A few less pounds from bleeding and D - doesn't bother him. If I can't be as "active" as I'd like during bednastics (thanks so much for that one!) - doesn't bother him. Keeping the lights out to make sure he can't see the extra pounds or the extra ribs - doesn't bother him. It really helped mentally after I figured this all out - he still finds me sexy even if I don't feel sexy. It's actually kind of a self confidence booster. Although at times it's just down right annoying! I guess I haven't hit that sexual peak yet...  On second thought, maybe it's way past!

Now every time I see a Twinkie I'm going to laugh!

Well I am not in my 20's or 30's anymore but I still have a sex drive.  The only time I didn't was when I was in a sever flare or just exhausted from the UC symptoms.  My husband says he understands.  Of course that is what he says.  I don't think it would be comfortable for him either then again I'm not a man.  I did notice I am not as playful..miss that!

My folks are both 59 and my mom says they still do daily. I hope i am like that at that age too.

Sex has not been happening in my relationship for the last month!!!!! i miss it but it's too painful,as a women it 's so close to the inflammation. The sleep deprivation doesn't help either. My fiance is not enjoing life right now- i feel bad sad sad not only for him but me too- it sucks!!!!

I have Crohn's Colitis. and I feel like the Entocort I was put on killed my sex drive.  I was a sex maniac before and then all of a sudden it declined after put on meds. Further, it was painful.  I will suggest Seasonique as a form of birth control, but take it like a normal birth control with periods monthly, 3 weeks on, 1 week off.  MY Gyno said it would work and it has.  No longer dry, have ahigher sex drive cause the estrogen is a bit higher, and i dont have much pain anymore.  =) plus even though it sucks the side effects that i'm feeling they are tappering me off the Entocort currently at 3mg. =)

My husband has UC and has been trying to get control of a flare for a year now. We got married in April 07

I have not had sex since July 07. sad

Seeing that it's been 7 months of barely even having physical contact...I think the disease itself is a drive killer not to mention the Prednisone.

I know the high amounts of sulfazine he was on was turning everything yellow....I mean EVERYTHING. So that turned him off.

I know they say "for better or worse, in sickness and health" when you get married but I didn't think that the "worse " and "sickness" would happen so soon.

stlwrkr, That description of the "lost 50lbs, looks like a stick and always on the toilet" is exactly my husband, though he broaching on losing 60 lbs...I still love him
