My husband has gone through hell for the last year all because of a flare that was treated badly that led to so many things going wrong I would have to write a book about
it to explain it all.
To make it short he had a flare Feb 07 that was treated with a high dose of Prednisone. That caused water retention which led to diuretics that led to the sodium levels getting dangerously low that landed him in the hospital for the first time 11/17/07. Then 12/19 he fell and broke his upper arm because of the prednisone weakening his bones and the water retention in his legs.
The broken arm led to blood loss internally which cause sodium and Albumin to plumit. 1/15 he's back in the hospital again for 2 weeks.
He got out little more than a week ago and is having abdominal cramps and threw up last night ( this all happened before the last 2 hospitalizations.)
We have been meaning to find a new GI Dr. but was hoping to get off this health roller coaster first. So what does his GI Dr. suggest? Well cut down prednisone from 60 - 40mg and stop Salazine (the Hospital Dr.s said go verrrrry slow with the Pred. and drop 2.5mg a week.)
Does anyone have any Dr. suggestions from the MD, Northern VA or DC area? This is absolutely ridiculous what we have been going through.
