Prednisone and Cold Meds

I am currently on 30 mg of prednisone per day. I have come down with a powerful cold. I know that prednisone interacts with some other medicines. Does anyone know if most cold medicines, such as nyquil or benadryln interact badly with pred. I know that alcohol isn't good with pred but the amount in a dose of nyquil shouldn't be that bad. I would like to get some sleep tonight but I'm not sure that will happen without the nyquil. Thanks for your help.

Funny, I just took a swig of Nyquil! I wouldn't worry too much about OTC cold medicines. I've asked my doc about several and he has never had any concerns about any. I've got a cough now and know I won't sleep without some Nyquil!

i can't comment specificially on drug interactions because of liability issues but you may be able to run a drug interaction check on a medication website.

Luke, the pharmacist where you get your prescriptions filled can probably also help you with this.

Always took cold meds with pred without a problem. Just make sure there aren't NSAID's (anti-inflammatory) mixed in (so no advil, ibuprofen--only Tylenol/acetaminophen is okay).

Thanks for the replies. I survived a couple days of cold meds without any problems and I think the cold is on its way out, but I'm not counting on it yet.
