blood droplet mystery

I've been in remission now for 7 months. I've only ever gotten tiny drops of blood during that time. When I do get little blood drops its always after I've expelled a lot of gas - a really big burst! The blood droplets never come with normal ungassy BM. I'm wondering is there still a part of my rectum that is a bit ulcerated and the gas can "blow open" the wound slightly. Or could it be a sign of hemmies. Any thoughts would be great.

I just went back to my GI doctor after several years of remission,now having a flareup. I was on vacation when the flareup started and told him about all the times I've had blood but managed it. To my suprise he was more open and asked me how I managed it...I said by taking Primal Defense (by Garden of Live) Probiotic formula. He used to foo foo this but now he says more research has come out that UC is a response to bad bacteria. Probiotics are one recognized way now to combat growing symptoms. I recommend it daily, for the rest of my life...it has saved me from so many flareups...this time is helping but still need medication...I was on holiday for 6 days with no health food store when this one happened.

Hmmm I sometimes wonder that too so I am interested in hearing what others have to say. My minor blood is not from gas though but if I push to hard when having a bm - I get minor amount of blood (and only once). So I sometimes wonder if something is a little "fragile" in there or what.

To me, it sort of sounds like possibly hemmies. Do you know if you have any?

i have had this happen and my dr chalks it up to the hemmies. she thinks i may have some internal ones that could be causing that reaction. i wouldn't worry about it too much unless it gets worse or more frequent, then you might want to check in with your GI (but if you are ever uncomfortable or curious--ignore me and check in with your GI asap!)

or a fissure.

It's possible you have hemorrhoids...can be checked out by the doc.

If symptoms continue, please start the rectal meds....actually, the rectal meds will help your hemmies as well...so, maybe give them a consideration.

A fissure, you can see if you squat over a mirror.

If you have a fissure it feels like you're pooping razor blades, so you'd likely know if you have fissures without even looking because you can feel them as soon as you get them.

I have a fissure that's more external than internal and break it open fairly often when I wipe. I don't really feel it at all unless I'm flaring or have multiple bms. It's quite small....

So, I still suggest takin a look....pb4, now we wouldn't want Damo to lose out on that experience..lol (as long as he doesn't do a Madonna)!

External hemorrhoids, on the other hand, don't bleed but can burn/ache/itch like hell.
