Prednisone...TANNIN???

I am taking 40 mg. of Prednisone and just wondered if it would be okay to use the tanning bed for a base tan.  Too cool to lay out yet.  I am talking about 6 short times in the bed.

Didn't know if there would be any side effects like brown patches or something showing up.

Any thoughts???  Will be calling the doctor today to ask this question.

It's a good idea to ask your doctor. I would also call the tanning salon. They have a list of meds you shouldn't take while tanning.

um, please don't flame me for this........I am only sharing my personal experience.

I am on my third tanning session going to the Dominican next month. I am using the super duper tanning beds and did 6 min the first time and was ok and did 8 min the second time and got a little pink, did 7 min yesterday and am building up a base.

I doubt anyone will tell you it's ok to tan. I have taken many meds over my life and I have been on some that say on the presciption bottle to stay out of the sun and wear spf if going into the sun. Check all your meds and stuff.

Just wanting to get a base tan as well and it takes about 6 times for me.  Then I would be just using the sun from time to time in the summer.  Darn, I am not going anywhere like you!  LOL

I would also ask about imuran and tanning. Taking imuran puts us at a larger risk than normal for skin cancer and lymphoma. My Gi said not to wear anything less than 30 any time i am out in the sun. You may want to check with your pharmacist as well. Another good info source!
