UC Friendly Jobs

I currently work as a freelance web designer, but now feel that its becoming to stressful and a career change is in order.

Can someone please tell me some UC friendly careers that I could go in to...

I work at a non-profit health clinic, at a desk job, doing admin. work. I wouldn't exactly call it a "career", but it works for me. Since it's a medical facility, all my co-workers are totally understanding & supportive of my "bathroom issues" & my upcoming surgery. Plus, they've all seen me deteriorate over the past 2 years. I also find the non-profit sector to be more open-minded & tolerant overall- I've been working in non-profits/human services for well over a decade, & that field is very "OK" with people's issues. There are times when I am working at ngiht, & I have to leave the front desk to run to the bathroom, but not many. And there are at least 5 bathrooms in the whole place, which is nice. Although this Fall, my daughter will be in school full-time & I am looking to change my hours, which means a possible job change. I'm thinking either Home Health Aide, or if not that, then something totally mindless like a cashier. Which I couldn't do at this time, but after surgery I should be alright.

If you could find a Web design job with a state agency or non-profit, that might be a solution. You'd still get to use the skills you have, but you'd have a guaranteed income, someone else to worry about all the finances and paperwork and a relatively low stress working environment.

I think a job working from home would be best for flares, but it's often hard to find those.

What kinds of things are you into career-wise?

How about one of those guys that stands in the fancy bathrooms and hands out warm towels? You're always near a nice, clean toilet! LOL. Seriously, I think I have a pretty good UC-friendly job. I work from home and set my own schedule, so I always do appointments in the afternoon, when my UC seems to be the calmest. When I'm in full-flare I don't do appts at all. From 7-11am I bring my laptop downstairs from my home office and literally sit by the bathroom and work. I got tired of walking up and down the stairs every 30 seconds! I sell a web-based corporate catering service to large companies. The only downside is that when I DO have an appointment, it's usually standing up in front of a group of 10-20+ people doing a presentation, which really leaves no room for "ah, excuse me, gotta step out for a minute."
