calcium pill gags me

I have been chugging more pills then I can count for the past couple years. I suddenly am having a gag reflex with my calcium pills. Is there any calcium brand out there that is not chalky. Perhaps a coated pill...any recommendations?

Maybe you could take a calcium chew like Viactiv? It usually comes in a couple different flavors. I'm taking chocolate right now and it isn't too bad.

I don't notice any flavor that bothers me in my calcium pills, I get them at Costco, only problem is they're BIG

I take Viactiv chewable calcium and Vit. D supplements. I take the chocolate flavored one and it tastes really good. I didn't want to have to swallow another pill, so that's why I chose the chewable ones.

  Yes, the Viactive are great~ Tastes like a chocolate piece of caramel and I actually enjoy taking them every day!

I was doing the chewable viactive for a few years.  Got really sick of the after taste.  Recently I tried the viactiv glides (pills)  I first tried the vanilla. The vanilla had such a strong taste it was gagging me when I tried to swallow them.  I have since purchased the mixed berry flavor of the viactiv glides and they are much better.  yeah Good Luck

A quick reminder about calcium.  I have been told that our bodies cannot absorb more than 500 mg of calcium at a time.  So, I wouldn't take the calcium with milk, you will not benefit from the milk. Drink the milk at a later time.  (4 hours rings a bell, but not certain about that)

also, if you are taking a multi vitamin that contains calcium, do not take a calcium supplement when you take your vitamin, take it at a separate time........The viactiv slides are not chalky at all.

I got calcium + vit D pills at the vitamin shoppe, they are coated (no taste) but they are big.

I take calcium + vit D 500mg 3xday.

Have you tried Adora? It's a really tasty chocolate that has 500mg of calcium and vit D&K. Comes in milk and dark chocolate.

I have been buying my calcium from bioactivenutrients.com. The pills are much smaller than the ones I have bought before at most stores and are much easier to swallow.

I had been taking Caltrate D. But recently started taking the Viactiv. So far I am liking the Viactiv the most.
You should really give them a try.
