ASACOL - UK

Hi, I have had UC for 6 years and from the start I have been taking 6 asacol per day. I note from reading your posts that a lot of you take more than this but when I spoke to my doctor (in UK) about it he said that taking any more than 6 would make no difference. Just wondered if you all noticed a great difference in the increased dose and if it's just how treatments differ depending on where you live!!!!

I've tried as much as 9 Asacol per day (3 pills 3x per day) but that many actually seems to cause very fluidic BMs -- we're talking pissing out of my arse level of fluidic. Though, it does seem to reduce bleeding fairly quickly at that dosage. I've also noticed similar results (though not as fluidic) if I move to 3 pills 2x per day, so I suspect (for me at least) it's more a function of how many you're taking at a time rather than how many you're taking in a day.

So, for me, it's a tradeoff; I usually stick with 6/day (2 pills 3x/day).
