Flaring, 15bm a day, hospital likely?

Hi everyone, i just started flaring, going 12-15x a day, for the last 3 days (of course it has to hit over the wkend). I am seeing my GI tomarrow morning, but am worried that i will be hospitalized. The last flare i had i went to the ER and was admitted w/ 15 bm's a day, so i worried that my doc will make me go.

Just wanted to know if anyone's gi sends the to the hosp. if they are going alot?

I am also having signs of low potassium (chronic problem), joint pain, belly pain (left side), headache. Thankfully i am not throwing up (which tends to happen to me during flares to). Anywasy, just wanted to see what others docs might do, or if they would just start u on pred.

ps, im currently on NO meds

I was not hospitalized I was going 25+ times a day in retrospect I should have.......but I would talk to your Doc and ask if you can try to take care of at home what the pro's and con's are.

thanks everyone! for me, usually when i flare like this, i end up at the ER due to low potassium and severe dehydration. It only takes me a matter of a few days before i have to be admitted for treatment. Im praying tho, that we can do this at home.

I am nnot currently on meds..long story short: took them all, ended up on 6mp, went into a yr long remission, got pregnant, stopped meds when i went into labor 15weeks early. (i wanted to breast feed if i had another preemie, first child was premature). After baby, i flared, was put on pred, and was going to start my 6mp again, but found a lump in my breast. (have since had two removed). I was in fair remission and wanted to try w/o meds, since i was worried about breast cancer/immuno meds. (NONE of the other stuff works for me at all). Im not sure what set off this flare, as i have been doing everything the same....

I do feel pretty yucky right now, but hope we can do this at home! thanks agian everyone!

thanks beth, i actually have potassium effervesent tablets that i can take up to 3x a day, but i know they are not working right now, as i am familiar w/ the symptoms of low potassium...i am having severe leg cramps, heart palpations, shortness of breath, tingling hands, feet....thanks again beth, maybe i will add the juice u recommended.

for me, if we wait even a wk, i will end up being admitted for sure! LOL
