Severe joint pain in one leg - Advice needed

I had a moderate flare about four months ago and ended up having to take a course of pred as nothing else seemed to be working. I finished the pred four weeks ago and in the last two weeks have had a slight discomfort in my left leg (right at the top at the joint). In the last three days this has progressed into an extreme pain making it very difficult just to get in and out of bed and chairs. I can't even walk unless I take Paracetemol and Codine pain relief.

I did experience similar pain with my first flair, but no way near this bad, just a mild discomfort really. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has had anything similar or has any useful advice?

I had a similar pain in the my right leg all thru this recent flare. It's hard to describe to people that it is right in the bendy spot in my upper leg..... I don't think it is as bad as what you describe.. but it does sometimes limit my walking and there are times where I told people I was going to cut my leg right off !!! lol I mentioned it to my doctor and he did some excerises with it... twisting it, bending it from left to right etc etc and that didn't cause me any added pain so he just attributed it to arthritis joint pain cause by my flare. He told me to take Tylenol but I don't find that helps a whole lot. I usually just sleep it off.

wow, so my bones could be dissolving after just two courses of pred? What a bugger....

My 23 daughter has been on Prednisone for four weeks now...has been in the hospital for two weeks.  12 5ASA a day, prednisone, and the usual other stuff.  Today, after a sigmoioscopy to assess if any change has occurred in her mucosa, shows no change at all.  She is on a feeding tube through a PICC line and will be starting Remicade today.  She has a severe pain in the shoulder/arm, for the second time since last week.  X-rays show no abnormalities.  Hopefully, this will subside with no aftereffects after they take her off the Prednisone today.
