I saw some blood on the tissue and this is in addition to the dark stools I had this morning. I have also been to the toilet and had Diarrhoea 6 times already today - I normally go once. But this could be the IBS as I always get loads of BM's if I am anxious.

It could also be a hemmrhoid or a fissure as I have felt a stinging sensation in my anus for about a week or so. The blood also looks so fresh and very specky like it is from a cut finger. I have not noticed any visible blood on my stools yet.

What next? Is my life about to change forever? Will I need something else other than Asacol?

Got a GI apppointment on Saturday.

Had a great job offer but might not be able to take it depending on the insurance :(

God help me.

Get Advantage Digestive, start today, can be found in any drug store. PROBIOTIC - VERY IMPORTANT!
NO SUGAR!!! that means all sweets. NO REFINE FOOD.
Start with root veg, brown rice cooked chicken, spinach (I read it here - v. good) banana, pear, no fried food.
Massage your feet in and around the arch, every eve when sitting.

Maybe canasa suppositories will help. I just read on this site yesterday that this guy thinks he found a "cure" for UC. It is basically to eat a can of spinach a day. I went out and bought a lot of spinach. It wouldn't hurt to try. Drink a lot of water, try to relax (easier said that done), and be careful what you eat. I hope everything is O.K. soon. I just spoke to the GI again who rang me on my mobile and told me to give it a few days and if things improve to cancel our apppintment on Saturday.

I live in England where health is FREE so private appointments like the one on Saturday would normall never be cancelled by a GI. My GI is also in the TOP 5 GI's list of the United Kingdom and he says he isn't worried at all.

He says the blood is probably where I have wiped too hard or a Hemmi and that black stools isn't necessarily Melena. Melena hs said is thick sticky patched almost like clots and not stools.

I think he was angry with me for overreacting, he was saying "look we don't even know if you have UC it could be infective colitis but are treating it as UC just in case".

I have been to the loo a couple of times since then and all I get are small black/dark brown stools but no visible blood or diarrhoea.

So I face an anxious few days.

Does not hurt to go on a health food diet! No sugar etc....

I am going to take a Bio Care Probiotic now and one when I go to sleep. I need to get my stool colour back!

I just rang the Chinese take away and asked what they put in my noodles. They said they used DARK Brown Soy Sauce for the dish I ate. Hopefully I may have found the culprit. God willing.

If you have any rectal meds start them if it continues for the next day.

that really aggravates me, your Dr. treating you as though you are overreacting, what about underreatcting, is that ok? Where is the handbook on how to act w/this flipping disease? Why doesn't he draw you a org type chart so you know what to do. Sorry, it just really makes me mad, I have learned so much more here than from any Dr.

Anyhow, I hope you are ok. I agree w/Quincy, take some rectal meds. It's hard to know what is going on. I had a thing where I was eating a lot of oranges and got a lot more bm's but when I stopped eating the oranges, I went back to 'normal'. Also I had a hemi and for me that is flat blood on the tp, not the clumpy kind.

He is the perfect GI and so caring. If I send an e-mail at midnight I will have a response by 8am. During the day it's even sooner. I don't know where I would be without him. He is just trying to manage me because he says that anxiety makes the IBS worse so for me to stay calm when things arise. I don't have rectal meds and I have had no blood in the several times I have been lately. The stools are also now darl brown not blood.

I will see how it goes for the next two days. You all are so supportive.
