what's this pain? Pancreatitis

Last night I went to bed feeling fine. I woke up two hours later with pressure in my stomach/sternum and pain radiating up into my left shoulder. This was not uncommon before during during the days of asacol/imuran but not recently. I have lots of different anti-gas products around and got up to take Gax-x and lay down propped up on my pillow. I then got extremely nauseated and colon responded immediately; threw up and used the bathroom, no D but fatty looking (sorry). I felt some relief and was able to massage my stomach and colon and the gas soon passed and I was fine. Over the past several days I felt fine except for occasional stomach discomfort and nausea. Stress is pretty intense at the moment...Mother with Alzheimer's visiting... I am feeling fine this a.m.

I'm on azthiropine, I worry about pancreatitis.

Also sounds like gallbladder attack. I had one a few months ago and it literally knocked me to the ground, had pain under my rib and in my back. I never threw up, but I was very uncomfortable. Felt a lot like gas. I ended up waking up on the bathroom floor in a cold sweat a few hours after the attack started, still in discomfort and unable to take a full deep breath, but better. Called my GI, she ordered ultrasound, and I was told I needed to have my gallbladder removed, it had stones. I've since had my gallbladder removed. No more problems.

I would not mess around with pancreatitis, but I don't think pancreatitis would resolve so quickly, either.

How long have you been taking probiotics? Just curious...my bf immediately started showing signs of acute pancreatitis after taking VSL#3 and going to get a massage. We are not sure what is going on yet. I am not blaming the probiotic, but just curious to know if others have noticed any side effects of taking them.

He is in the hospital now for 3 days. the cat scan looks like pancreatitis, but the blood tests don't add up.  He had a high white blood cell count, low grade fever, vomiting and severe upper abdominal pain for 3 days before we went to the ER.

He is also taking Lialda (2 weeks). He was just recently diagnosed w/UC.

I would go get checked out if I were you. I have not found any bad side effects mentioned about probiotics, but everyone's body is different. Hope you feel better.

Hmm, isn't Imuran similar to 6MP? B/c then pancreatitis is a side effect. I would call your GI and let him know what happen, and go to the ER if it gets worse.
