Hello all again. My husband is struggling with terrible sweating every day. Does anyone have any ideas? It is driving him crazy.

Keep the air condition on nice and low and cold. Cut back on salt and increase water. I really have no idea what to do, but I am always hot and tend to sweat too. Good luck, you may also want to cal doc for advice.

I always sweat a lot, especially at night, when taking Prednisone. Just another one of those "great" side effects of Pred. Not really a whole lot you can do except to bear it. Staying off of alcohol seemed to help a great deal.

Hi....I think you should call the doc and get your husband checked out thoroughly. Actually, salt decrease might not be such a good thing since sodium/potassium imbalance can happen.
It's possible the concoction of meds is the major culprit, maybe the doc can adjust the dosages, etc.
Call the doctor.

I agree with quincy about
the possibility of meds being the culprit. I used to sweat like crazy as well and nothing helped, I tired using products like Maxium, etc., which helped but still didn't stop the sweating. But I stumbled across something that worked for me...by avoiding sugars & milk.

Thank you for the advice. He told the doc but she just said you are going though 'menopause" and laughed. She said she had no idea what to do except deal with it as it is probably just a side effect. It happens every day around 2-6 pm and then last night he woke up completely drenched and the sheets had to be changed at 3 in the morning.

I used to sweat a lot & have hot flashes when taking prednisone too. I think being so hungry all the time made me breathe heavier too. I hope I never have to take that again.

It has happened to me once before and I was not flaring at that time.
It was early winter and I was recovering from a bad cold. In the middle of one night I found myself sweating so badly that my clothes and the sheet were all wet. It happened again on the following 3-4 nights. But after that I was well again.
I think I was weak then because of the cold. After I had fully recovered I didn't sweat like that any more.

Prednisone made me sweat like crazy, especially at night. Nowadays I'm not on pred and I do wake up drenched sometimes but don't have problems during the day anymore.
I would definitely suspect the prednisone.
Just here...

I am having a problem at night with sweating, I just noticed it I think two nights ago. I don't know if its because it's been SO hot lately or the meds, or what, but I sleep with a fan on me and the windows
open, but still have some sweat around my head and upper back...

We are thinking of switching him around so he takes his second half of the prednisone at dinner instead of at lunch. Does anyone think that will help? We have the air on in the house and it is actually quite cool in the house so it must be the prednisone.

The prednisone is probably the culprit. I also had hot flashes while using Rowasa.
There isn't much you can do, but make sure that he is wearing breathable fabrics (aka cotton). There were several times I just had to get up and change my pajamas... Others have slept on towels - to make it easier than changing the sheets.
He could try taking the prednisone later - however, insomnia issues may result...
I hope he finds something that works.
