I have had pretty hard stools the last few days and somewhat loose this am..then all of a sudden this afternoon I had D? I dont get it?

Now this is a gross question (sorry) but what does mucus in the stool look like? Is it sometimes when you feel you have to go but is mostly gas a little bit of somthing in the toilet that would look like a bit of water with a tiny bit of stool in it? Kind of like a very very mini D?

Yes, like you said a lot of times I feel like I really have to go and it's just gas and a cloudy whitish substance that's like snot, or sometimes it's more of a brownish or greenish color (yikes). Also if I have solid stool a lot of times there's just a white substance on it that looks like white stool but is mucous. Lately most of my bathroom trips consist of just the mucous.

I'm going through the same thing except mine is very thick and red to dark red. I have been bleeding like a stuck pig lately. I always thought the mucous was the intestines trying to repair itself, but then it backfires.....literally. I stopped being squeamish about my bowl movements unless I'm around company that doesn't want to hear about it. It's part of my life.

Hmm I have not really looked to see if it is "think" but will now. I do know its just a shot of little liquid that comes out w a little stool though-sound like mucus?

When you blow your runny nose on toliet paper and look at it,...that's what mucus looks like! LOL Not trying to be smart, but that's what mine will looks like when I wipe. Of course there will be blood and liquid stool.

I decided to read the post and everything you have all described is exactly what happens to me right before I start to have serious flare ups. I would have never been able to really describe it to anyone who doesn't have it if I wanted to. But you hit it right on the mark.

I don't get it either. I have been flaring since last November.
Now I have 2-3 BMs with formed and loose stools every morning. But the last BM is always water with thick blood or red/brown loose stools. No cramps nor diarrhea.
I don't know if I'm in remission or not. confused

Ok..this definition is going to be explicite!!    Ok, the mucous appears differently depending on how your flare is at the moment......when i have pure watery diarrhea,  the mucous is clear, string snotty looking...if I have a formed stool,  it will appear like a white ribbon wrapped on the stool itself....if I'm flaring bad, it will be no stool and just mucous...which looks like clumps of what looks like clouds in the water,  ranging from white colored to red..depending on how much bleeding your doing.   Sorry,  I know this sounds disgusting,  but what about this disease isn't disgusting!!  Hope that helps!!    cool
