Has anyone ever travel out of country before?

Probabl a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it. I was wondering has anyone ever travel out of country before? I be kinda nervous espeically if I go to Latin American countries like Brazil, & Chile going through customs with my meds.

Yes, as long as your medicine containers have your prescription printed on them, you shouldn't have a problem.

I have traveled a lot outside of the country with no problems lately but of course I don't take meds anymore. If you are packing a variety of meds in your take-on luggage it would probably be best to have a letter for your doctor stating that you take the following meds (have them listed). This should ease any concerns a customs person might have.

I'm glad you've asked this I was wondering the same thing,also I want to go to Brazil for a couple of months, and I'm worried about not being able to have certain vaccinations like Hep A,and also having a lowered immune system the increased risk,of getting infections etc.I did read one post on this site from a woman who said she had travelled in south America whilst on Azathioprine with no problems,I then saw a cheap two week hol in Magarita island,but got to scared to risk it when I read about,people getting dodgey stomachs in the hotel and sand flies,mosquitos and dogs full of dengy fever,which apparently is not that serious,if your fit and heathly,but can be,if you have impaired immunity,sore throats and fever are the two things your meant to be alert two if your on Aza I think.

not a problem for me at all. I put them all together in my carry on, went to the UK, Aruba and the Dominican. In the UK there was some special alert thing where they would not let anyone carry anything on (not even my purse) they singled me out coz I was flying alone and did not even question my meds.......just about everything else though.

also, none of my meds were/are liquid.

I've only travelled to the UK and Europe but I took my meds w/ me in my carry on luggage.  They questioned if my hot water bottle was empty (I had to pull it out so they could check it) and looked funny at my electrical adapters (yep - another bag search!!)  but didn't even question my big plastic bag o' drugs in my backpack.  I made sure all my drugs were in their original bottles w/ the script, pharmacy, and dr's info on them.  I know that others have taken liquid meds w/ them w/ no problems.  Hopefully someone who has done more travelling than I and someone who has travelled w/ liquid meds will chime in.

I dont have any problems with medicene while flying-just kep it in the same container it came in.....it goes through the x-ray machine just fine. No questions asked.

I heard you need to get papers from your doctor proving they are your medication. Because if they dont believe it is yours they will trash it!!

Due to my job, I travel to many countries, including South America. As long as you have your prescriptions in the original container, the customs people don't hassle you. I have been to Brazil several times and no worries. Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe, no problems.

Hi,

I am new to the forum and I live in Beijing. We travel quite a bit and have never had any problem with medicines of any kind. I only use OTC meds for my UC, but my husband has a chronic illness that he has several meds for and he does travel with a letter from his doctor, although he has never been called upon to use it.

UC is definitely more challenging living/traveling outside the US - public restrooms are not as plentiful, not as clean, etc. My biggest issue in Beijing is the traffic - trapped in a car with no exits in sight.
