My first post here and my first bad flare up in 3+ years. I have had colitis for 5 years, longer I believe before I was diagnosed (looking back now I can see signs as early as childhood). First doc who diagnosed me had me on asacol only, and then prednisone for over a year. Was in a constant state of flare up for over a year. Got rid of that doc and new doc took me off steroids and put me on mercaptopurine (6mp). Anemia kicked in. Had to have shots and transfusion. Took almost a year, but I finally went into a remission, with only a few minor flare ups that I took care of with hydrocordosone enemas when needed. about a month ago I had a tooth pulled and was given antibiotics, doc thinks this triggered the flare. Has anyone experienced a reaction like this to antibiotics? I have universal colitis, which means its all over ā not just located on one side (figures, just my luck!). I am really bleeding bright red blood and mucus. Some cramping. Mostly making me stress and worry that the meds are failing and I might have to go to remicade or something else. Every where I look people are going about their normal lives, what I would do to be normal and in control of my body again! Just trying to work and have a normal relationship with my boyfriend seems like too much. I hate having to tell everyone how Iām feeling, how can anyone relate or understand. I hate this disease sooooo much!
