I did a search and there was one topic about Flagyl with mostly negative experiences. I wanted to offer a different perspective.
I have had UC for just over a year now and have been in a pretty severe flare (10-20 BMs a day) throughout with brief periods of moderate control due to Prednisone.
I have been through every single treatment except Remi which I will be starting this month. Every treatment and drug has not helped. This also goes for diet changes, probiotics, etc.
My doctor prescribed Flagyl (antiobiotic) at my last visit and I have to say, whereas everything else hasn't done much, Flagyl has certainly resulted in tangible and noticeable POSITIVE changes. Less pain, more control, less BMs per day. It hasn't put me into remission but it has offered some hope.
If you are at you wits end and have gone through most of the other medications I would recommend asking your Doctor about trying it out.
