Really really upset. :(

My 12 yr old daughter has had some blood in her bowel movements. She had blood once in August, just on the toilet paper, and pain with the bm, like it was a fissure or tear. It happened again in September. But this month it has happened 3 times, and 2 of those times the blood was on her stool.

She also feels like she has to "go" and nothing happens. She has had some mucus too. I am really upset. The irony is this August is the month I got diagnosed myself.

I am taking her to the doctor this week.  Ugh.

She needs to get checked out to be safe.I hope its nothing more than a little tear .

I often fear for my daughter as well since she is so like me, physically and genetically. I understand your fear. So hopefully it's nothing serious so please don't get too upset until you know for sure what it is. I know, easier said then done. Let us know what the doc says.

I don't have kids of my own, but I sooo know how you feel Sunshine. I worry about my future children because of this disease. I will be praying that all goes well with the appointment.

i'm sorry to hear that, I hope she will be ok, but if she does have UC, she will be ok b/c she has you, someone to at least talk to about it.

Hope its nothing serious

I have a 6 year old son who was born before I was diagnosed with UC. He looks exactly like me. I'm very nervous he may develop UC in the future. Now I'm having to decide if I ever want to have another. I wouldnt ever want to pass my disease on to someone else, so Im trying to decide if I want to get a vasectomy.

I took her in today and based on her symptoms the pediatrist was not very concerned!! She thinks its small tears, or fissures. We reassess in a month. It was just a relief to have a doctor not so freaked out. I know even if my daughter does have this, that we will get through it, day by day. God has gotten me through this, and I know he will be there for her. I just felt like I was so overwhelmed, one more thing......

In my family my mom has Crohns, and now I have Crohns/Colitis, so I can imagine my kids will have to watch for it too. Thank you so so much for being there for me when I vented. I was very upset. There are times when I think I never want to see a drop of blood again.
