Hello..
i have been diagnosed with uc for about
15 years... lately, my worst symptoms have been severe pain and severe constipation... does anyone have any suggestions?

If the constipation is new to you, you need to talk to your GI. Many docs recommend a small dose of Miralax to relieve constipation. Once your doctor has cleared you, try increasing your fiber intake, either through diet or by taking a supplement. As you increase your fiber, be sure you're drinking a lot of non-caffeinated beverages as it takes a lot of fluid to flush the fiber through your system.

are you on any rectal meds? low in the rectal inflammation will cause constipation.
Inflammation will start bottom up....heal up down.
rectum first, rectum last.....
I use Metamucil smooth...orange...NOT sugar-free.
Welcome to the forum....how high is your UC?
What meds are you on?

I also use Metamucil smooth, orange, NOT sugar-free (my doctor's recommendation). Seems to be working well.
I second Judy's suggestion to drink plenty of liquids, and quincy's question about
rectal meds. I have proctitis, and constipation is one of my symptoms.

I don't have constipation issues, but my sister just did after a surgery. She drank a brand of tea that worked well and was specifically for constipation. Its called "Smooth Move." Isn't that great? The name just kills me.
