One time I tried Beer. Only once, It was my first try and last. The next day my reaction was very bloated and gassy. Did not feel comfortable at all. But I haven't tried Wine since being diagnosed.

I do everything. Beer gives me gas though and makes my stool greasy. I try to stick with high grade vodka as it is the easiest for the body to process and has the least amount of preservatives and red or white wine. MY doctor put it to me this way, if you want to go out and enjoy some drinks dont let the fact that you will have loose stools the next day stop you. I know i'm fortunate as most people cannot tolerate alcohol at all but I seem to be OKAY with it. Though it does take about
3 or 4 days after drinking to completely get my stools back to normal.

believe it or not I got UC from a night of benge drinking. Obviously that wasn't the only factor why I got it b/c my friends didn't get it but beer is scary for me. Everytime i'm in remission I will have a couple of drinks using expensive vodka and sugarfree juices or teas, but I can't over do it.

Alcohol consumption can increase your chances of relapsing if you're in remission. Foods associated with inflammation such as alcohol, simple sugars and caffeine - should generally be avoided or at least greatly reduced.

Yeah I don't either, I don't even really drink. Humira is a shot medication. Kinda hard to explain.

That site will help explain it more.

Sugar doesn't bother me. Caffeine doesn't bother me. I don't drink much (an occasional glass of sangria) because I figure with all the meds I'm taking, I should give my liver a break. With diet, you pretty much have to experiment as it seems to be different for each of us.

I don't drink beer, wine, or champagne. I just don't like the taste of it. I do enjoy a margarita or mixed drink from time to time.. Usually vodka and some form of juice. I used to be able to drink quite a bit but the last two times I've drank, I've only had two kinda strong drinks and I was trashed and in the bathroom puking. It's ridiculous. I think it's because I'm flaring and with all the basically
open wounds in my intestines the alcohol is going straight to my blood stream. I don't know but UC flares turn me into a serious lightweight.

Most of the alcohol is actually absorbed before it reaches the large intestine. The stomache and small intestine do most of the absorption.

I've heard that alcohol can be hard on the colon so tread with caution, of course like most things, some will notice alcohol to be more bothersome than others, it's all trial and error but even if you notice it doesn't seem to bother you, consuming it in moderation is likely best.

I can drink a glass of wine or two, but more and I get gurgly.
I often mix white wine with club soda (and ice and lemon). Then I don't drink nearly as much alcohol when I'm out for a long evening with friends or around the pool. Safer for the drive home, too, needless to say! It's tasty, especially in the summer and some of my friends have started drinking it too.
Beer doesn't seem to bother me at all.
Hard liquor will cause me to bleed, no question about
it. I miss my Jack&Ginger.

I drink a glass of red wine most evenings with no problems. I will have a beer or two once every two weeks or so and that seems ok, too. I am on SCD, so not really supposed to drink the beer and I try to cut it out for the most part.

My husband and I are boring drinkers - we like bourbon and diet cokes in the evening. It doesn't bother me.

I have reduced my alcohol consumption alot. I basically avoid beer. I will have some wine, or vodka and sprite. I will usually drink no more than 2-3 glasses. I dont drink during the week anymore, so if i do drink its on a weekend. In the past I have found that alcohol definitly bothers my UC, but only if i binge. 2-3 alcohol drinks once a week never hurt me.
Cutting alcohol out of my life has really changed my social life, and i wasnt even a heavy drinker!

For my first two years, I was able to tolerate moderate amounts of alcohol. Since I went into a flare this last June, I've had alcohol once (some beer), and it tore me up for a couple of days. I haven't had anything since July 5th. I miss my microbrews, but I just don't need to inflict that on myself again...maybe if/when I start feeling better.

i was gonna write in last night that alcohol doesnt bother me... but of course, wouldnt you know it... i had to small glasses of baileys on the rocks last night and it was awful!
about
4 hours after, i was so cramped up and in so much pain i couldnt believe it.
bam! puking on the can it hurt so bad.
and yes, there was baileys in the bag, so not sure if it was that or not, but darn... i think i get a bit lactose intolerant when im flaring.
not sure tho.
wine seems to be fine with me tho.
thank god for that!

I have 1 glass of white wine, and one vodka and soda most nights before bed. On nights I don't I haven't noticed any difference.
