Alcohol doesn't really aggravate my UC - during flares or in the "off season".

Oh yes, hard liquor makes me bleed and causes setbacks. Beer and wine not so bad but I know I would do better without them.

Anything in moderation. When I am flaring I don't particularly want to drink anyway though.

Trial and error, everyone reacts differently, and even at different times you may react differently to alcohol, just stick with moderation because alcohol is hard on the colon, and find what bothers you least.

just finished my contract on Friday and there's major flooding here, the novel atmosphere of the flooding and my celebrating my contract end led me to drink far too much.
I've been avoiding beer (carbonation) so I had a terrrible mixtures of drinks. Red wine, some beer, caiipirhinas and margueritas - so foolish I'm not used to heavy drinking any more.
I'd just gone symtom free but in the last couple of days along with a horrific hangover there's been blood and diarrhea,
Lesson learned -

During my remission times, drinking in moderation is fine...during a flare, I avoid it like the plague!

I've had UC for about
a year now. I have not been in remission yet not fully barring a few days with reduced symptoms. But I have noticed that Alcohol seems to have a negative effect and can feel discomfort within minutes of having the first couple of sips! Beer seems to be the worst, wine is next. Seem to be ok with hard liquor atleast while I drink. But the next day is bad! anyone else experience something similar?

<----100% it bothers me - whether in remission or flaring. Of course the day after is always way worse if I flare. In remission, the day after I usually just have looser stool.

If I go out and have a few beers one night, the next day I won't have to go to the bathroom at all, then I'll go back to my normal bowel movements the day after that. This seems weird to me. I def. don't go out and drink heavily anymore though. It would make my abdomen sore.

Wine and some hard alcohols are okay for me but only in moderation. Alcohols that have "fizz" like beer or (my favorite) champagne, I don't handle well. Oh, and the hard alcohol can't be mixed with anything fizzy.

Yup any type of alcohol in excess will make me bleed some. Alcohol isnt good for your intestinal flora, and if its already bad then...oh well you get it.

I notice I can handle alcohol fine during remission. I think it has something to do with transit time and alcohol's reaction 2 already irritated tissue as to the neg. effects during flare. I positively avoid alcohol during flares. Hangover and "die-off" make for a lousy day... btw.
If I'm going to drink in the evening I eat a large bready meal to soak up the extra liquids that make it thru digestion process or overindulgence. At the end of the night, no matter how smashed I am, I make sure to drink a glass of H20 and pop a few probiotic caps to replenish any of my good guys killed off during high adventures.
A little trick I learned from college... Milk Thistle helps the next AM when u take it before u drink.

alcohol is fine with me.... except the other night i had 2 baileys on the rocks and cramped up something fierce 4 hours later.
i think it has to do with being a bit lactose intolerant while flaring.
otherwise everything else is fine
