My appointment on the 20th is to see what my options are for another drug to use for remission. I was on 4.8gm/Lialda (max dose) and it really made my symptoms worse, after reading the side effects of 6mp (i've been told im having a blood test to see if I can take it), I wonder if maybe 4.8gm was too much? I'm not superfond of the idea of getting on 6mp....
Yea I don't think anyone is fond of the idea of 6mp. I had been on it before for about 2 years and did fine on it though. No side effects whatsoever. I stopped taking it because i stupidly thought i found the 'cure' for my illness which i believed to be food related. WRONG! well i just went through the worst flare of my life and i am going back onto the 6mp. I know there are alot of people who do very well on 6mp and are on it for a long long time, but for my personal opinion, i think i am just going to get this flare under control and get the surgery and be done with all the guess work. I don't want to take the chance that I'll get an adverse effect from 6mp one day, or that it won't keep my colitis under control, or any other complications.
if your blood work comes back good, then it will probably be wise to try the 6mp at least. it will get you off of steroids, and then you will at least have a clean slate for a while.
