is all fish oil caplets big? the reason i ask is cause i have a really hard time swallowing pills. or is there a brand that makes some smaller?

try Coromega. it tastes like pudding and isn't too bad.

But they give you bad breath, beware! My friend takes them and it's really unfortunate.

All of the capsules I've seen are large. You can look for a liquid fish oil. The high quality brands don't have the fishy taste and are flavored. Carlson's lemon flavored is popular.

Not all fish oil caps give bad breath or fishy burps. You have to experiment with different brands.

Hi,

How much fish oil do you usually take, and how long before you notice improvement?  I'm taking seven seas - gel capsules.  They aren't giving me bad breath (i hope!!!) and they aren't giving me fishy-tasting reflux like other brands have....I do find it's better to take them with food.

I found that omega=3 fish oil cap actually made my diarrhea worse.  I started them when I was doing well, and I ended up with diarrhea for a few days.  when I stopped them, I was fine.

don't buy a fish oil caplet unless it's enterically coated-- it MUST survive your stomach acid if it's going to do anything for your UC. There was a study released last year that discussed that whether fish oil helped for UC or didn't was unclear, but what was clear is that it had no chance of helping if it wasn't enterically coated.

That coating, by the way, also prevents fish burps and fish breath. :)

my doc just recommended ENTERIC COATED FISH OIL and they work great. they are smaller and they stay intact all the way to the colon. and no fishy burps or anything. cant even tell that im taking them.
i would recommend finding some and taking them.
